Why has a $1 charge appeared on my account?

When you place an order with OfficeMax we will lodge an authorisation request with your credit card issuer via Payment Express to validate that your credit card details are correct. You may notice that a $1 “pre-auth” or “authorisation hold” charge appears on your credit card statement.

Once your credit card has been validated, the “pre-auth amount” will automatically be removed from your account (it may take 7 days for this to occur). You are not actually charged the $1.
