Supporting Schools

Being a great company is about more than just sales

We believe that each and every person has a responsibility to do their part to better themselves, their communities and the natural environment we all share. And that includes us as a company too.

We know quality education is a community commitment. That’s why we provide ongoing support to the Education community and those leading our schools through sponsorship and business partnerships.

Schools can earn School Rewards for Back to School purchases, education providers can help disadvantaged students get funding for school books, stationery, uniforms and equipment, even special tuition through the Max e Grants programme. We are also proud to be an official sponsor of 0800 What’s Up – New Zealand’s free phone counselling service for 5 to 18 year olds.

Max e Grants

Education is an important part of a child's healthy development, but for some families, equipping their children with the resources needed for their schooling isn’t easy.

We believe that every Kiwi kid deserves the same opportunity as the next. That’s why we developed Max e-Grants in conjunction with Barnardos, New Zealand’s largest kids charity, to provide grants to children so they won’t feel isolated or left out of educational activities due to social or economic disadvantage.

Schools can apply online on behalf of children from 4 to 18 years of age for a grant of up to $5,000. This could include funding for school books and stationery, uniforms and equipment, special tuition, and subsidies to allow children to participate in class outings and camps.

In the last six years, we’ve donated $700,000 through the Max e-Grants programme. And together with OfficeMax, eleven of our preferred suppliers have offered their financial support to this programme. We’re proud to say we’ve been able to assist over 12,500 children enjoy the educational experience they deserve.

If you are a school, kindergarten or day care centre and know of a disadvantaged child who you would like to nominate for a grant, or if you would like more information about Max e-Grants, visit maxegrants.co.nz or click here for a copy of our brochure.

A big thank you to our supplier sponsors for their continued support.

0800 WHAT'S UP Sponsorship

We’re dedicated to supporting Kiwi children beyond providing them with books and stationery for school. That’s why we’re proud to be official sponsors of 0800 What’s Up, a not-for-profit phone counselling service that has been helping children and young people across NZ for the past 12 years.

Run by child welfare charity Barnardos, 0800 What’s Up is a safe place for Kiwi kids to talk confidentially about anything. Trained counsellors are available to talk 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and answer phone calls from over 200 children every day.

Kids can call 0800 942 8787 from 1pm - 10pm Monday to Friday, and from 3pm - 10pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Additionally, this is the first kids’ helpline in NZ to offer an online chat service, open daily from 7pm - 10pm.

To access this service, or for more details, visit whatsup.co.nz. You can find out how 0800 What’s Up has helped Kiwi kids by reading some case studies here.
